The wellbeing assessment (WA) measured environmental
and socio-economic conditions in the CIT analysis area
to provide a clear picture of how close the region
is to sustainability, the current direction of change,
and the major strengths and weaknesses to be addressed.
The WA provides context for land use decisions and
a baseline for monitoring implementation.
The main products of the wellbeing assessment were:
- A description of ecological and
cultural features that were unique or rare, and for
which the CIT region and subregions bear special
responsibility.
- A set of "Barometers of Sustainability" showing
the degree of wellbeing of human and the ecological
systems in the CIT region and subregions, the sustainability
of these systems, and the key factors to be addressed
for improvement.
- A report explaining the methods
used; evaluating data quality and highlighting gaps
in knowledge; assessing the impact of data quality
and knowledge gaps on the analysis; and presenting
the results
of the analysis.
- Tables with all indicator measurements
and scores, performance criteria, and procedures
used to combine data.
